Children Ministry Report ／ Angela Woo (Director of Children's Ministry)
The FECDB Children’s Ministry has a vision of building a community of authentic disciples of Jesus Christ. We want to help children go through a genuine transformation of character, becoming more like Jesus in every aspect of life. This year, God provided many opportunities for us to move toward this vision and we praise Him for that!
Worshipping as One Big Family: In-Person Vacation Bible School
The pandemic changed everything. Until the beginning of 2021, it felt like hosting an in-person VBS was an impossible dream. But our God proved His faithfulness once again! He turned our seemingly impossible dream into a miraculous reality! He brought all the children, including the ones who had only joined us online. He also brought many new friends and visitors so they could hear the Gospel. He also provided a team of dedicated volunteers from all four congregations (Cantonese, Mandarin, Youth, and ACC). You see, the entire VBS truly was a testament to God’s faithfulness and provision. We came together as one church, finally being able to celebrate His goodness together in person! Our children learned through the story of Joseph that (1) God loves us no matter what, (2) God is with us everywhere, and (3) God is in charge always. We thank God for the three-week experience we shared together as one big family!
Building Community: The Power of Play
The most loved part of our Sunday worship is … (drumroll, please) the recess time between the two worship services. It is obvious that there has been a growing appreciation of “playing together.” It was something we took for granted before the pandemic. But after going through a period of social distancing with no toys and no play, our kids now truly appreciate the time we get to play together! And it’s not just about having fun. Our children’s learning continues during recess because it’s the time for them to practice what Jesus taught His disciples, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:35) They are learning to share with one another. They are learning to be patient with one another. They are learning to help one another. We pray that our kids will continue to build life-long friendships with their brothers and sisters in Christ!
Serving Others: Teaching Younger Friends, Singing Praises, Rainbow Library
Did you know that our children love to serve the body of Christ? Some of our kids serve as teacher’s assistants in the nursery worship videos. Others have participated as vocalists in the video worship projects or the joint worship team on special occasions. And most recently, a good number of kids started serving as librarians for our Rainbow Library, organizing all the books and decorating the library. Their faces beam with joy and excitement whenever they find these serving opportunities. We are so thankful for their willingness and readiness to serve. We pray they will continue to grow as faithful servants of God, doing the good works they were created to do (Ephesians 2:10)!
Growing in the Knowledge of God: Journey through the Old Testament
This year, our children embarked on a journey through the Old Testament. Each child received a Bible Passport for each book of the Bible. As they continued reading the Bible, children were able to check off the chapters and see how far they had traveled. The Bible Passport even helped kids tackle challenging books like Leviticus and Numbers! We are proud of and thankful for their continued passion for reading the Bible. We pray that the Word of God planted in our children’s hearts will continue to grow and bear fruit!

FECDB兒童部的異象是建立一個由耶穌基督的真實門徒組成的群體。我們希望幫助孩子們經歷真正的品格轉變，在生活的各個方面變得更像耶穌。今年，神為我們提供了許多機會，讓我們朝著這個異象前進，我們為此讚美祂!
大家庭的敬拜: 實體暑期聖經學校
新冠疫情改變了一切。直到2021年年初，人們都覺得舉辦實體的VBS暑期聖經學校是一個不可能的夢想。但是我們的神再次證明了祂的信實！祂把我們看似不可能的夢想變成了奇跡般的現實！祂把所有的孩子都帶到了這裡，包括那些只參加線上聚會的孩子們。祂也帶來許多新朋友和訪客，使他們能夠聽到福音。祂還提供了一個由四個堂會（粵語堂、國語堂、青少年堂和ACC）的熱心志願者組成的團隊。你看，整個VBS真的是神信實和供應的見證。我們終於能夠作爲一個教會走到一起，實體地慶祝祂的美善！孩子們通過約瑟
的故事學到了：（1）無論如何，神都愛我們；（2）神在任何地方都與我們同在；（3）神總是掌管一切。為我們作為一個大家庭一起分享的三週經歷，我們感謝上帝!
群體建立: 遊戲的力量
我們主日崇拜中最受歡迎的部分是……（請擊鼓）兩場崇拜之間的休息時間。很明顯，大家越來越欣賞 “一起玩 “。在新冠疫情之前，我們認為這是理所當然的事情。但是在經歷了一段沒有玩具和沒有遊戲的社交隔離期之後，現在孩子們為這段一起玩的時間而感恩。 而且這不僅僅是為了玩樂。我們的孩子在課間休息時持續學習，因為這是他們實踐耶穌教導祂的門徒的時間，”你們若有彼此相愛的心，眾人因此就認出你們是我的門徒了。” (約翰福音13:35) 他們正在學習彼此分享。他們正在學習互相忍耐。他們正在學習相互幫助。我們祈禱我們的孩子將持續與他們在基督裡的兄弟姐妹建立終身的友誼!
服務他人：教導年紀較小的朋友，唱讚美詩，彩虹圖書館
你知道我們的孩子喜歡為基督的身體服務嗎？我們的一些孩子在托兒室的敬拜視頻中擔任老師的助手。還有一些孩子在視頻敬拜中擔任主唱，或在特殊場合參加聯合敬拜團隊。而最近，有不少孩子開始擔任我們彩虹圖書館的管理員，整理所有的書籍並裝飾圖書館。每當他們發現這些服事機會時，他們的臉上都洋溢著喜悅和興奮。我們非常感謝他們願意並準備好服事。我們祈禱他們能繼續成長為神忠心的僕人，做他們被創造出來要做的善工（以弗所書2:10）!
對神的認識在成長：舊約聖經之
今年，我們的孩子開始了舊約聖經之旅。每個孩子都收到了《聖經》中每一卷書的聖經護照。當他們持續閱讀聖經時，孩子們能夠在各章上打勾，看看他們已經走了多遠。聖經護照甚至幫助孩子們閱讀了像《利未記》和《民數記》這樣具有挑戰性的書籍。我們為他們對閱讀聖經的持續熱情感到驕傲和感恩。我們祈禱，種在孩子們心中的神的話語將繼續成長，並結出果實!
