Social Concern Ministry Report

Love Well in this broken world
“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness,[ and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8 is the foundation for social concern ministry. During the serving and participation, you practice walking with God. Do you feel applauded when you see that your life has matured as a result?
Do justice
Christians live in a multi-ethnic society. How should christians respond to diverse and complex social issues? Coupled with the fact that this is an election year in the United States, Christians talking about politics seems to be a sensitive topic in Chinese churches. The FECA social concern committee invited many speakers to serve brothers and sisters with different cultural backgrounds and languages. We do not seek a simple answer, but to practice discernment, seek God’s will in these difficult and complex social issues. To reflect on the meaning of the gospel together in order to love our neighbors well with the heart of Jesus.

Love Mercy
This year is the fourth year that the FECDB church has participated in the “6K for Water” event. Brothers and sisters use this platform to invite friends who have not joined the cell groups or new to the church. The youth department promotes and raises funds through game activities. I saw brothers and sisters doing their best, using the money and ability given by God, to care for and bless places in the world where resources are scarce!

Biblical Principles for christian elections guideline:
- God’s plan is for man to take care of the earth. He wants us to love God with all of our heart, mind and soul and also love our neighbor.
- Election voting should prioritize the following three biblical values: peaceful & nonviolence, Shalom: the balance of grace and justice, global view
- Avoid four pitfalls: Avoid partisanship; Avoid single issues, Avoid worldly labels; Know how to ask critical questions
- Prayer: Be grateful that you can exercise your citizenship rights through election. Let’s pray for peace for our country, and to live out the meaning of the gospel.
