Youth Ministry

Youth Report / Pastor Joseph Lo

Looking back on this year, I thank the Lord for his presence and blessings upon our youth group. One event that stands out to me is our joint Easter Sunday Service with Anchor.  Not only did we celebrate Christ’s resurrection, but we also celebrated the spiritual journeys and baptisms of three students. It was a joy to hear about God’s resurrection power in the lives of our youth.

I am also thankful for some of the new service projects the youth were able to participate in. We visited and volunteered at an organization called Amy’s Farm. This is a local farm (owned by Christians) that donates a significant portion of their harvest to local food banks. Students joyfully harvested, weeded and bundled crops that would go to our community.

For the 6K for Water, our students enjoyed creating an additional fundraiser/Game Day for the parents and adults. One Sunday afternoon, students led adults through some games that educated and raised awareness about the challenges of clean water in third world countries.  The activities were fun, informative and it also raised a significant amount of money for those in need of clean water.

This summer we were also thankful to bring back our FECDB Family Retreat. We created a lot of good memories and stronger bonds within our community.  Most importantly, we felt God’s loving presence through the messages, worship and discussion groups. One student that was visiting from China heard about Jesus for the first time and he was very touched by the gospel. He was excited to look for a church when he returned to China.  We look back at this retreat with fondness.

We are also extremely thankful for our partnership with Anchor Community Church.  This summer 4 new youth workers from Anchor stepped up to serve as Small Group leaders and Sunday School teachers. It is such a blessing to be able find caring and faithful adults who are excited about youth ministry. We anticipate another year of God’s work in our students’ lives.

Pastor Joseph Lo
